The Process
Hand painting silk can be arduous; however, the results are extremely pleasing. The silk becomes a durable wearable piece of art or a wall hanging.
Create an outline design on paper.
Stretch silk on a frame.
Trace the design using Gutta resist.
Paint in a watercolor style with dyes.
Steam set for 2-3 hours.
Remove Gutta resist by dry-cleaning or
remove water-based resist by rinsing in water.
Iron scarf on silk setting.
